This course is an initiative of the Regional Strategic Sustainable Fruit Farming Program, financed by Corfo, an agency of the Ministry of Economy, and the Regional Government of Valparaiso, imparted by UC Davis Chile. “Agricultural Extension Tools for Fruit Farming Consultants of the V Region” will be held between 17 December 2018 and 31 January 2019, with 50 hours on site (in the province of Quillota) and 10 remote hours with specialist exponents from Chile and UC Davis.
The objective of this activity is to provide extension tools to consultants of the principal fruit crops present in the Valparaiso Region in order to promote a sustainable productive activity among their farmers.
Among the international specialists are Mark Bell, Vice Provost of Strategic Initiatives and Statewide Programs (with 10 years of experience in Mexico) and Louise Ferguson, Director of the Fruit & Nut Research and Information Center, both specialists of the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE). Last year, Ferguson was awarded the Outstanding Extension Educator prize from the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS).
